Give your cat or dog a wooden toy that looks better, lasts longer, and is finished with a coating designed for peace of mind. HILHELM Pet Toy Paint is a water-based, low-odour wood coating developed for wooden cat and dog toys, chew toys, cat scratchers, and DIY pet toy projects. It forms a smooth, durable film that helps protect wood from moisture, saliva, UV exposure, and daily wear—while remaining easy to clean and maintain.
When properly applied and fully cured, the coating is tested in accordance with EN 71-3:2019+A2:2024 for migration of certain elements and is formulated to meet FDA food-contact requirements. It is also SGS-tested and compliant with strict EU heavy metal regulations.
Water-based, low-VOC (<2 g/L), low-odour, and free from formaldehyde, benzene, free TDI, APEO, heavy metals (lead, copper, aluminium), phthalates (DBP, BBP, DEHP, DINP, DNOP, DIDP), and PAHs. Formulated for wooden pet toys where safety and material quality matter.
The multi-layer system—sealing primer, foundation primer, and topcoat—creates a tough acrylic film that helps reduce water absorption, surface staining, and weather-related deterioration. Ideal for both indoor and outdoor pet toys.
UV-resistant polymers help prevent discoloration, keeping white and light-coloured toy finishes bright and clear over time.
The topcoat delivers a smooth, washable surface that resists dirt, mud, and residue. Simple to clean with a soft damp cloth.
Quick-drying formula supports efficient coating workflows with minimal changes to existing equipment. Primer sands in about 1 hour at 25°C / 65% RH.
Available in clear, white, pastel colours, and custom shades, with matte, satin, semi-gloss, or gloss finishes to match any pet toy design.
