Designed for willow furniture, wicker decor, bamboo crafts and mixed woven products, HILHELM Water-Based Finish creates a clear, durable coating without hiding the material's natural character. Its polyurethane-based resin system forms a smooth protective layer while preserving visible grain, open pores and the warm hand-feel of woven fibres.
The low-odour, fast-drying formula is suitable for professional furniture production, restoration workshops and DIY projects. Once cured, the coating helps protect against everyday scratches, moisture marks, oil, dirt and discolouration caused by regular light exposure. The semi-open finish avoids an artificial plastic appearance, making it ideal for chairs, baskets, tables, storage units, decorative panels and woven accessories.

Before coating, the willow surface should be dry, clean, and free from dust, oil, wax, and old loose paint. Moisture content should be below 12%. Stir fully before use and filter with a 200-mesh screen for best spray quality. Dilute with clean water only when necessary, keeping added water within 5% of the coating volume.
Air spraying is recommended for the most even semi-open effect. Airless spraying is suitable for larger production runs, while brushing may be used for repairs or small items. Apply thin coats instead of one heavy layer. Light sanding with 400-grit abrasive may be done after the first coat is touch dry.
Do not apply below 10°C or when relative humidity exceeds 74%. Keep the working area ventilated, but avoid strong airflow directly onto wet surfaces. Tools should be cleaned with water immediately after use. Store sealed in a cool, dry place between 5°C and 35°C.
Under normal temperature and humidity, the surface dries in about 30 minutes. Recoating is recommended after at least 2 hours.
Yes. It is a water-based formula with very low odor during application and almost no smell after drying, making it suitable for indoor furniture and decorative items.
It is designed for willow, rattan, bamboo, bamboo-willow blends, wicker-style furniture, woven baskets, craft decor, and other porous natural fiber products.
Yes, it can be used on outdoor woven furniture. For long-term exterior exposure, we recommend using it together with a compatible primer or outdoor protection system.
The theoretical coverage is approximately 10-15 m²/L, depending on the absorbency of the material, application method, and dilution ratio.
Yes. Use clean water or deionized water only. The added water should normally not exceed 5% of the coating volume to avoid sagging or reduced film performance.
Yes. We have over 10 years of specialized experience in water-based coating production and are recognized as a national high-tech enterprise in China. Our long-standing track record and official certifications reflect our commitment to excellence.
